It also adds more value to the book as it encourages subsequent readings. With multiple interpretations it's like getting multiple books for the price of one.

I was learning to live on my own, albeit still with some financial help... I don't know about the social aspects of it though, a lot of people seem to make connections and get into relationships while in college.
