Tho there's been some regional controversy here, so perhaps worth noting since ancient names South Italy+Sicily have had heavy Hellenic element; the ancient Romans called it Magna Græcia (Great Greece) after all.
Except they did not spent 500 years in Ottoman Turk empire and go thru massive population transfers with Anatolians and Pontics from Asia Minor moving in the 20th century, so remains closer to Classical Ancient Greeks, the men who built Græco-Roman civ
