We have recovered their ships in the past but it's an extremely challenging task mainly due to how rapidly they just disappear. Downed ships are always found literally wedged into the soil. Requires lengthy excavation involving heavy machinery. The outer layer of their ships is a very brittle and unstable material. It breaks away easily from the main frame.
