I did I.T. for a school district for a long time. I found the lower the school grade the higher the concentration of women working there. About 5th and 6th is when you’d start to see the amount of men stop feeling like an anomaly. One time we had a big budget shake up and a lot of teachers got reassigned involuntarily.
Steve was an awesome 5th grade teacher and had been for almost a decade. When they told him he would be needed to fill in for a recently retired 2nd Gr teacher, except when he got there another lady with a shittier assignment and more seniority pulled rank and took his spot. So he had to go be a kindergarten teacher. When I tell you that guy struggled in a way that solidified my appreciation for any teacher that can even do kindergarten much less the humble reality that some women, average women are so much better at it than a man could probably hope to achieve. In case you don’t believe me, the guy ended up being out of there in about 2-3 weeks and the final straw was how sideways the lesson on proper scissor handling went.
