"Holding" the sins if others for the purpose of blackmail is just what the church has always done. You're an adult you should know it's a game. They want quality not "belief". Most likely everybody in that church is bled dry and has nothing left to give and the ones Holding the real keys are just there to extort the cattle out of whatever they want from them.
