I'm from Newfoundland, we joined Canada in 1949, but even after that our Provincial Flag was just the same as your national flag until the 80s when Ottawa said this is ridiculous and made us choose a new one. the government replaced it with picrel. Anyway because of this all the old cemeteries around me growing up just had a sea of little union jacks next to every tombstone.
