After the first Matrix movie, the Jews got pissed and started making changes (since the movie was based on fighting them through Jesus/Satan, etc).
So the two director brothers turned tranny at the same time, Keanu's sister died of cancer and his wife/unborn daughter died in a car crash or something.
This guy paid in spades... but his resolve was stronger than evil itself. He really is a true hero. Wouldn't bend the knee to anybody except God.
Also why every other Matrix movie was absolute trash ever since.
