Otherwise, why even have it? Christ said so himself.
Matthew 5:17-19
>17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The only parts of the Old Testament that don't apply to Christians are the laws explicitly for the Israelites, ie dietary laws, circumcision, mixed fibers in clothing, etc. Israelites had stricter rules applied to set them apart and use them as an example to others; mainly an example of how impossible it is to live up to God's standards (necessitating Grace rather than salvation through works), what with the Israelites pissing God off with their bullshit on a regular basis and getting punished for it.
Christians aren't supposed to ignore the Old Testament, and modern Jews aren't related to the Biblical Israelites, either genetically (they're Khazarians with Iranian ancestry) or religiously (they follow the Babylonian Talmud, written in the 3rd century AD, based on the heretical teachings of the Pharisees that Jesus Himself called bullshit on.).
