>>6409259It's pretty ridiculous. A lot of rivers have so much algae in them that it's just cake all over all the rocks in it. A lot of people slip on the algae while walking in shallow sections of rivers because the algae is very slippery and end up falling and landing hard on the rocks and injure themselves. Or it gets on their skin and leaves a nasty rash.
Swimming in rivers used to literally be a cultural pasttime here. Not so much anymore. There's a river I used to swim in a lot when I was a kid. Back then, the water didn't look too bad. A little bit of that algae and moss but nothing too major. Now, that same river has so much algae and moss in it that the water's turned orange. Fucking orange. It almost looks like fanta. Only the ballsiest of people dare to swim in it now, and they usually get health complications afterwards.
