>>13548259That might have been true in the Middle Ages, the only time the average Christian would have "read" the Bible is when they heard it from the pulpit on Sunday. But most Christians today, even Catholics who were discouraged from reading the Bible for centuries because it might have led to errant conclusions, have a tradition of reading the Bible, at least if they're serious in their faith. Protestants especially are encouraged to read the Bible and even to make their own conclusions despite this leading to many strange ideas like the "Rapture".
Imagine if I criticized atheists (I assume you are one, deep down perhaps hidden in a layer of Paganism, Satanism, whatever) by saying they were all 14 year olds who hadn't even read the holy books they claim to be disproving. While this might describe a minority of atheists, even perhaps a large minority, clearly this isn't true of every atheist. Some are widely read in religion and simply can't accept it. Similarly, there are many Christians who have read the entire Bible cover to cover.
Respect isn't about agreeing with someone's ideas, it's about agreeing to disagree like rational adults. The world is big enough for the both of us, and the fact of the matter will come out eventually. I used to be an anti-theist many years ago until posting on the circlejerk of atheist reddit had the opposite effect and led me back to researching religion, so I understand where you're coming from. But simply attacking people who are religious with spurious arguments like you're doing will only encourage them to grow in their faith.
