The problem with America is what they define as "food".
If you're eating actual home-cooked meals, and buying your sausage & meat locally, etc., then American food is great.
If you're buying a McDickhead's "hamburger" and thinking the "all beef patty" is not adulterated crap, and the "special sauce" on it isn't spiked with HFCS, then you're fooling yourself.
Buy meat links from a local butcher, and you'll get pretty much what they eat in Germany. Buy "hot dogs" from the grocery store, and you'll be eating corn syrup and other shit. Read the label, don't take my word for it.
