I feel like people always talk about being prepared for potential apoc events but it rarely involves planning to set up communities and instead focuses on individual survival, which is fine but also pretty flawed. It's better to stick together because not everyone is going to know everything needed to survive long term. A good post-apoc community would need mechanics, medics, agricultural experts, guards, carpenters, etc. Going it alone would be suicide for a number of reasons and we would have everything to gain from banding together and combining our various skill sets and assets.
Also, I remember a while back we had a similar series of threads and there was the suggestion to carry around a 4 of clubs to identify each other, which I still think is a simple yet brilliant idea.
