>>21159793I would argue that most people here are actually very progressive and that modern "progressives" are actually extremely conservative.
Most people on /pol/, whether they are Christians, Nazis, Monarchists, or whatever else, fundamentally want to return to some kind of traditionalism. This sounds conservative but it is actually progressive because they have a subconscious image of how society ought to be and want to progress towards it by reclaiming traditions, similar to how people during the renaissance look back on roman and ancient greek culture with a new perspective. It's why people on /pol/ like anime, because many anime (especially SoL like K-On or Isekai/fantasy anime) present a hyper-idealized traditional setting where the protagonists have agency over their lives and strive towards traditional heroic ideals like courage and honor.
This is also why many people here who were repulsed by liberalism sought out conservative republicans as potential allies and eventually realized that these conservatives are just as bad if not worse. Neocons and MAGA boomers want to conserve the status quo of 2 decades ago. They also hate center-left liberals who want to conserve the status quo of 1 decade ago. Modern "progressives" are perhaps the most conservative of all because they want to conserve the current degenerate post-2020 status quo of big government, diversity hires, and trannies.
Besides the far-right, the only other people in society that are actually progressive in the sense that they want to destroy the status quo and create something new is the far-left. Not the "progressives" who are actually conservative useful idiots, but the actual communists and accelerationists. This is why horseshoe theory exists and why people here sometimes think communists are based on a few issues like destroying Israel or China taking Taiwan. It is also why there was a lot of overlap between voters of Trump, Bernie, and RFK despite them having very different views.
