Also it is interesting that you bring up the islamic religion. Islam is obviously a fabrication by 9th century Arab warlords (like my Uzbek friend says “Mohammed has fucked the entire world”), and there is quite a bit of material that covers it.
However, Islam has many useful elements borrowed from Jewish/Christian tradition, so it would make sense that in the interest of an ordered society Turkish conservatives would uphold that religion. They don't understand that maybe you would need to become even more disinterested in your interests for religion to become an option.
Regardless, my brain does not work either right now.
