Being a hacker involves being smart. Sometimes, the smartest approach is not hacking at all. Low-tech methods yield quicker, better results.
There have been a couple of million-dollar digital heists pulled off by 'hackers' who just shoulder surfed people working on laptops at coffee houses near known investment banks, and noted logins and passwords.
Heck, there have been more than a few cases of people being able to get root access to entire companies simply by phoning up some dumb secretary, pretending to be from the IT department, and getting her to install whatever they want.
