That's actually more to do with California than your skin color, but you're going to get lumped in with the welfare beaners unless you distinguish yourself.
That said, you'll get away with Eugene. It's the southern end of the Portland-Salem-college town I-5 corridor that swings the state blue when most of the counties are red. Your car won't get keyed or firebombed in blue-state Oregon, pre-DotR anyway.
Post-DotR, consider having a fallback plan.
