If there was any doubt of the need for poise and assurance, Noire provides a tremendous counter-example with her tour-de-force of awkward self-promotion. Carmody wants to stop her, or try to help her somehow; but Priscilla's eyes are on HER. She can't afford to do that now.
When Priscilla puts an arm around her shoulder, Carmody casually lets her own arm slip around Priscilla's waist, standing casually beside her, but with her back straight to emphasize her full five-foot-six stature. Carmody takes a thoughtful look at the contract, scans it briefly, then raises her eyebrows and smiles at Priscilla. She recognizes her expression, and while she never expected this when Priscilla walked into the Dojo, it's safe to say this has lifted her mood immeasurably. The confidence in her bearing isn't a projection any longer.
>"Priscilla, I want to thank you, first of all. This is quite the offer, and quite the gesture. And you brought it before me at a time when I needed it the most."Carmody gestures around to the assembled reporters who are filming them.
>"And then? By bringing all these reporters here, calling all this attention to the Dojo, right down onto ME? By putting me in the spotlight like this, you've already done me a favor far beyond my ability to repay. But I'm gonna try. And this contract, this modeling deal and sponsorship, was exactly what I was lookin' for in my wildest dreams when I came down to Spaghetti Town. So I'd like to accept....."Carmody lowers the hand holding the contract to the side.
>".....but I do note, from the way you're talking, that it's clear that signing this contract, and being a part of this Dojo, is an either/or proposition. Which means I've got to at least consider what I'd be giving up."
