Confution occurs because Spanish WORDS have gender. The gender of words is independent of the gender of the person.
The translator returns the gender of the word, grammatically speaking. It does not refer to the person's sexual choice.
It is often mistaken on purpose to introduce so-called gender ideology into the political agenda.
An example that often happens to introduce the gender idology agenda that gives a lot in my country is the following:
The word "president" has no grammatical gender. But people are often accused of not accepting gender or being misogynistic for not naming "presidenta" (giving the grammatical feminine gender to the word president) to to a woman in office.
