If it tried to maul me i'd probably kick it as hard as I could. When it did inevitably latch on I'd gouge it's eyes and hope I had a knife or superior weapon to kill it. worst case would keep a thumb in it's eye and hammer fist it in the back of the neck over and over and over. Assuming I was lucid.
