>>20450623>most important : a pair of mouchette scissors, in sterling ofc! That recalls an unfortunate missed opportunity, there was a hodgepodge lot of old silverware on eBay, mostly plated serving utensils, but included was an awesome old silver wick trimmer, I think late 18th-early 19th century. It wasn't hallmarked like European stuff but it had the sort of rectangular silversmith's stamp just like those used on American coin silver, and the luster and tarnish certainly looked like that of good old silver too. As typical for American coin silver it was unembellished and elegant in its simplicity, just a good honest well-made piece. Forgot to bid and the whole lot sold for the $20 opening bid. Still haven't found a good silver wick trimmer at the right price but I'll definitely get one someday.
