>>20401796I remember reading the yellow book mentioned in A Portrait of Dorian Gray. That book was called, A Rebours, or Against Nature. It's about an extremely rich, but decadent man who does bizarre things with his wealth. One of them was to take a poor kid from off the street and treat him to the most lavish lifestyle for a couple of weeks, then cut him off completely. He did this in the hopes that the kid would grow up to be a murderer who would do anything to get back that lavish lifestyle again, knowing that he never would.
I imagine there are many rich men like this, who indulge women a few times to give them the highest expectations, then dump them forever, knowing that they will ruin themselves to get back that high life again.
