Rome was already doomed before Constantine took over, it was Caracalla, a pagan who gave citizenship to foreigners and border hopers and begame replacing the mostly Italian army with germans and foreigners, and it was Diolceltian who split the empire causing the mass amounts of civil wars that followed. Christianity had nothing to do with any of that and in fact kept the rump state alive for another century until their incompetence and corruption got to them. Not like the papists helped the situation but the Byzantines never treated the crusaders well so it wasnt reipricated like it was for the miaphysite Armenians who treated the crusaders well and were back.
You have an extremely biased and brief understand of history particularlly of that which led to the collapse of Rome.
And the collapse of something so large and powerful as Rome is going to leave a vacuum nothing can fill properly though the church did a fairly good job until the 1000s when they started overstepping their bounds.
