Men want to end up owning their own homes so they are financially comfortable and secure in their later years. They can't do that if they get divorced a couple of times, sending them back to the start line each time.
My own dad was divorced in his 70's. Now he is renting a tiny one-bed studio apartment, the kind that students usually rent.
Myself I'm one of those rare 50+ single men who managed to keep his house which is now fully paid off. My outgoings are so low that I'm stuffed with cash like a piñata and only need part-time work. And all because I refused to date or marry, despite having women throw themselves at me all my life.
