>>13411592In my opinion? I honestly don't know why they are so hated. They are a bit lighter in tone than the LOTR movies and they absolutely should be. It's not some apocalyptic end of the world story like the main trilogy, it's just a fantasy adventure. Plenty of kino moments as well, pic related.
I personally like the final movie a lot. I love how the Battle Five Armies was just about gold. It's not the fate of the world. It's not really about good vs. evil. It's just a big pile of gold in a mountain and a bunch of factions are fighting over it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a "good vs. evil" story, but I appreciated a simpler and more practical storyline. "Well if we don't take the gold, those damn dwarves will take it, and we can't have that," it was honestly good.
