It's also worth noting that in the Bible, circumcision is a pain ritual that men pass through in order to form a pact with God, which is essentially in line with hunter-gatherer manhood rituals. If the Jews had come about in the Amazon they'd probably be doing the ritual with the sleeve of bullet ants like the Satere Mawe. So doing just the tip was fine because it would still hurt and that clears the hurdle. It just has to hurt, it doesn't have to be permanent damage, although being visibly verifiable is good for a ritual like that.
But the modern circumcision was specifically adopted as an anti-pleasure procedure, it was designed specifically and completely to remove pleasure from masturbation for young boys. It's the exact same logic as Muslim Africans lopping off clitorises, they do that so the females won't get pleasure from sex and therefore won't cheat, same reason they sometimes sew the vagina shut, to keep them from cheating. Circumcision is mutilating your boy so that he can't jerk off without lube and comes from about the same level of sadism and stupidity as those Muslims.
