Everything is relative: sure the crack-head in Detroit has a shitty existence but maybe he doesn’t fully conceptualize it ‘cuz he’s high all the time. Compare that the sober virgin 35 year old salaryman who—despite not living on the streets sucking cock for crack—has worked 13 hours a day for the past fifteen years and gotten literally nowhere on the Japanese culture/corporate ladder.
