If people panic, they'll strip the supermarkets (like just happened in Italy) and the supermarkets wont be restocked back to regular levels for a while.
The government wont let people starve, but things will be tight and unpleasant.
An active person needs 2000 calories a day, of a balanced diet. (Inactive people, 1000 calories)
Breakfast:
Porridge 100g - contains lots of calories and slow release energy. (350 cal)
Lunch - 100g rice and half a tin of beans/curry/meatballs etc. (600 cal)
Dinner - 100g ramen noodles and half a tin of vegables (600 cal)
Extra:
150g tinned fruit (400 cal)
half tin of sardines (about 50g contains 150 cal)
Canned ham.
Chocolate/candy treats
Powdered milk, coffee & tea
Think of it in big portions.
A 5kg bag of rice is 50 portions
25 tins of meatballs/curry is 50 portions.
Work out what you need for the house and get shopping.
The very act of working this out and getting the right supplies is a rewarding experience. You'll be surprised how cheap it is when you don't buy processed shit.
