>>10173268You need to whipe the word Gentile from your mind.
Gentile is a latin word and is not used in the Bible originally.
Jerome used it as a translations for the Greek word ETHNOS.
So let's go with the whole neither Judean or Gentile canard. What does Gentile mean ? Gentile is a Latin word.
The words Gens and Gentiles have a special meaning in the system of the Roman law and in the Roman constitution.
This is the Official Roman definition of Gentile (coined by Scaevola) by Sextus Pompeius Festus (The OFFFICIAL Grammarrian of the Roman Empire)in his 20 volume work De significatu verborum (“On the Meaning of Words”)23 AD
"That is called Gens Aelia which is composed (conficitur) of many familiae.
Gentilis is both one who is of the same stock (genus), and one who is called by the same name (simili nomine),
1 as Cincius says, those are my gentiles who are called by my name."
SAME family. SAME race.
That's what Gentile means. It doesn't mean non-Isralite, or another race or another family.
The Greek word used in the NT is ethnos which means (the same) nation or race.
In fact, in a 1966 Catholic bible it says race and not Gentile..
