not at all, the point i was making was about priorities. current systems overspecialize and make unnecessary sacrifices to increase their strengths past diminishing returns. i think any of the systems could be more "generally" good without any changes to how they work fundamentally if they were just built with different priorities.
i believe the core mechanics to the system i'm gonna work on should be pretty unique. potentially so because they're just dogshit on a conceptual level, but we'll see.
sci fi fantasy basically. the sort of "spin" on it is that most "sci fi fantasy" settings are either regular sci fi but there are elves or regular fantasy but there are funny looking trains, but i want to go more the phantasy star route where intergalactic spaceships, dragons, photon cannons, and wizards all coexist.
