Essentially Dracula felt like a drawn-out version of the latter, with less intriguing characters. But what about you? For me the theory part consists of reading and trying to figure out what works and what doesn't on my own. But it might be a bit more difficult for you, since you need to know how your instruments work and whatnot. Even more perhaps, come to think of it I don't even know how musical notes work...
