>>15053709None of us are. It's performative. I was supposedly family and I was discarded like a soiled tissue. It started with the big abstracts like honour and valour and shit like that and everyone reached consensus that it was all lies and we were just afraid and putting a bold face on. Next it was faith. Consensus now is we're afraid of death and this framework made it slightly less horrifying. Now it's time for love. We don't sacrifice anymore. We find easy, agreeable arrangements that land in our lap and as long as the back and forth is more distracting and less stressful than the voice in our head screaming "you're one second closer to death, also you suck", we persist, but the moment it becomes stressful these days, we break out the abacus and start doing the math. Value becomes a position defined vis-a-vis other assets or lack thereof. Love is defined by the positive distraction weighed against the negative. If the balance skews, you can easily discard and wait for something else to fall in your lap. No, no-one is valued and loved. It's all just nothing and I'm wrapping some things up and it's time to call it a day.
