The hardest truth men are forced to face as they grow into real adults, is that women will never love the way men do. Women "love" out of need, men love out of idealism. It's a disappointing truth, and all you can do is accept it. You can still have a perfectly lovely relationship with them, but you'll have to be able to look into her eyes, listen to her tell you how much she loves you, and understand that she wouldn't be there if it wasn't for whatever circumstance got you both to that point. Money, safety, stability, whatever the reason, you'll always know that she wouldn't have been there if you were dressed a little worse on that first date, or if you were a little more emotionally vulnerable around her, or if you didn't have that good job that buys the nice vacations to Hawaii.
You'll always look into her eyes and know that "I love you" comes with an asterisk. "I love you *(because you were a guy with a promising career when I found you and I wouldn't have touched you with a 10-ft pole when you were not enrolled in college)."
Women are evolutionarily conditioned to cut and run on sick, wounded, or doomed offspring and mates because you can always make more spawn and find another mate. it's the same cowardly genetics that cause them to spread legs for conquering foreigners. This is why grandmas are so great, because post-menopausal women shift survival strategy from hole access to hearth maintenance and assistance with child rearing. Their survival strat is based on being helpful and agreeable.
