The Germans had less troops and less tanks than everybody else they went against. Germany beat the French and the British at the same time because the British and their allies were so incompetent. Then the Germans lost because they did not have the resources to keep fighting like the whole world against them did. One million losses for Germany was a huge loss. It was nothing for the Soviets or the Allies.
