It would be intresting to see a study on this. I have never studied reproductive behavior I only have my experiences and observations to go on. To my there are two type of people who reproduce, those who select mates based on a balance of affection and attributes and those who only reproduce based on feelings.
I think most people's affection for a mate is informed by the observed attributes of their counterparts. It would seem that women typically have the lion's share of the power in reproduction both legally and socially. If there is a panic it would make sense for a woman who doesnt believe she can defend her self or who has a strong drive to reproduce would seek a mate quickly, perhaps ignoring her standards in some areas.
I suppose this same logic could be applied to men. Like I said I dont know anything about reproductive behaviors.
