For God has free will and so it is only proper that we also attain it being his image. Where we fall short (sin) is by being limited beings whereas God is infinite, so we naturally fail to live up to his standard.
In order to correct this imbalance we're gifted the righteousness of the perfect Man (Jesus) & our inequity is put on to him on the cross. In this way we can attain reconciliation without God lowering his standards nor removing what makes us his image (free will and knowledge of Good and Evil)
The reason we keep sinning is because we're still locked within the old hardware of our flesh but once we die our soul is freed from that and we can now be made whole. It's all 5D lawyering & book keeping.
