I work in tech and its been pretty strange. job cuts or attrition through hiring freeze for like 2.5 years straight now. but they are still trying to spend money on capex like craaaaaaazy. they want me to spend like 10x my salary on bullshit that nobody even vets. very strange and collective behavior among big tech. they're trying vary hard to push using AI internally: tiger teams, task forces towards finding use cases and testing industry tools. But on the true technology side nobody touches that shit except maybe using chatgpt to search for papers or the occasional introduction to a topic.
