>>1168702Well self-discipline is really rooted in just about everything related to self-improvement, simply because of the fact that I have been raised to believe that doing whatever I want was okay. All these bad habits and options are made convenient, and readily available. Worse is that they're promoted to us every single day, around every corner. The media likes to paint the nihilist as happy and individualistic. So I grew up seeing that, living like that, which has in turn made self-betterment way more difficult than it could have been. Not that I'm trying to shift responsibility, it just explains why it's so hard.
As for fapping, I guess I worded it wrong. It's not that it's entirely bad for you in and of itself, but that cutting it out offers so much more benefits. I honestly just want to quit it. I feel like fighting that urge, without pornography, is still idealistic and what I personally want. When I do talk to others about this my main point to them is just to quit pornography, so I get what you're saying.
