I have felt such a great affinity to Christianity since I was 16 and some street preacher here in Iran, risking his life, handed me a translation of the new testament. I loved the book and resonated with its message more than anything else, more than Quran, more than Avesta. I remember reading the sermon on the mount for the first times and getting tears in my eyes. I felt that holy sprit stuff Christians talk about touch my heart, it was, and to this remains, the only real religious or spiritual experience of my life. But then I pulled myself together. I refuse to betray my people and denounce their religion or their god. Even if they're false I am still a man of honor and won't betray my ancestor's. My people have always fought the Christians, even when we were zoroastrians. But since reading their book I now have more compassion for them.
