>>8399478Well put it this way, you can trace the correlation between the rise of the humble colour camera and the demise of classical art, which is really quite a literal form which doesn't really challenge the mind (with exceptions of course). It was an expensive photograph for the financially endowed. Van Gough, for example if not for a simple fault with his vision really kickstarted more imaginative and less literall art which I personally find more challenging.
I appreciate fine art, but find genuine inspiration from the more leftfield thinking artists. Like I said, love classical art, but I need people like Westwood in my life to give me inspiration.
Same applies to music too, traditional art shares the traits of pop music like Abba or anything Motown. Simple, formatic, repeat adnauseum, whereas Modernism, Cubism, DeStijl etc play like Jazz or IDM, the creative juices flow and inspiration is live invention.
