I will say this, Mustard gas is a very good way to get infantry to fuck off for a bit. Tanks should be equipped with mustard gas shells for that reason.
But back to what you were saying, so you effectively suppress the enemy front trenches, assault them with ease, and now you're digging in while your own artillery is brought up.
Except now you're the one being shelled/gassed, you have no response, and you're being counter-attacked by tanks.
Technically you made it across, but it was just for a visit. Now it's your turn to run or die. Meanwhile the tank crews are fine.
