An emerging group of families known as Zadokites had risen to prominence as the priestly caste in Judah, though it wasn't until the prophet Ezekiel that specificall, associated with the cultic worship of Yahweh in the Jerusalem Temple who had risen to a degree of prominence under the historical Judahite King David and his son Solomon, were elevated above the Levites while they were demoted to mere servants for their perceived sins by the prophet (Ezekiel 48:11).
