>>20721693Sovlfvl and wholesome post, I hope you have a blessed day fren!
>>20722756>My very first purchase was 3x 1oz rounds. She asked for $10 and I gave her $20. It was at that moment I became hooked on hunting cheapies.Nice origin story anon! I've collected and flipped coins and all manner of antiques etc. since I was a kid so always bought the shiny cheapies I stumbled upon, but didn't specifically hunt for them until April 2020. Coofvid prompted me to start stacking Ag hard in February and I bought an assload the day it plunged below $12 in March ($14.78/oz with premium) but as spot rebounded and premiums ballooned in the following days i started brainstorming ways to keep my cost under $20/oz. I discovered the refinery angle and collected together the random scraps I had accumulated but wanted to have a bigger batch so started looking for more on eBay. Thanks to years of experience I already had a knack for finding deals so I quickly put together about 10 kilos at a cost under $12/oz after refining fees, and I've gotten much better at it since then.
It's a pretty serious hobby but was never how I made a living, however thanks to my broad numisfag, antique-picking and scrapchad experience the best LCS I've ever known just gave me the most amazing opportunity I've ever been offered. The childless boomers running the shop needed someone young with the right mindset, personality and experience to learn the ropes and take over the business and specifically reached out to me. I impressed them so much that they didn't bother interviewing anyone else and formally gave me the job on my first training/try-out shift! It's a good wage with unlimited overtime and besides one day inheriting the shop ($$$!) I get to do what i love every day and absorb more hands-on experiential knowledge to hone my skills and expand my expertise than i ever dreamed I'd have access to.
It still feels like I'm dreaming, but my autistic talents have been recognized and I'm going pro!
