God creating the world, his Covenant with the Israelites prior to the Covenant with the Christians, God's laws for man (not to be confused with the laws exclusively for Jews), and how Jesus was the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.
A Christian should most definitely start with the New Testament, then go into the Old Testament. The OT is mostly important only as background and context, but it shouldn't be ignored.
