And that we could access those metaphysical concepts here on earth, and use them to gain mastery over the world. Then you could rise up and break out of this mundane existence we are trapped in. Which is what we've started to do today.
The Gnostics combined these ideas with christianity. They interpreted the "world of forms" as something called the Pleroma, filled with ideal representations and concepts, sometimes called the Ogdoad. Ruling them all was reason. We are trapped here in this mundane earth by the Demiurge, our creator, who is the first of the Archons (fallen angels pretty much). By tapping into the world of forms, we can rise up and fight back, destroying the demiurge and once again reaching the light of the Pleroma.
