>>20342971the ones in chichenitza still stand but not the ones i just posted where mexico city is- tenochtitlan. the spanish tore down the biggest cause of catholicism. mayan/inca/aztec engineering should be much more talked about but the europeans really wanted to wipe it out and suppress it so people wouldn't get mad that it was wiped out. chichen itza wasn't 'rediscovered' until like 1900 and the pyramids were pretty much completely buried in mud and vegetation despite only being a few hundred years old. more pyramids have been found in the jungles using ground search radar but haven't been excavated yet. the natives lost like 90% of their population within a few years to disease so a lot of it was simply lost and forgotten.
