(Currently jobless) techsupport anon here.
I have a finished a 3 year course in IT (systems integrator) last year and worked for a few months as techsupport. Well, work sucked and it exacerbated my schizophrenia and I got fired for being ill.
I don't think I could work a regular 40 hour job in this field because I can't handle stress well. In my last job we were a two man team and we were severely overworked (imo). We had to support a few thousand clients, so it was a bit much.
Though lazy as I am, I don't think I want to be a pisspoor leech all my life.
Currently I am looking into other options and maybe learn some new skills I could make money off of without having to be employed fulltime somewhere.
I'm curious to look into programming given my IT background. Though I did good in those classes, I never really learned how to program for real. Where could I start?
Android development seems interesting and it seems like that is something that could be viable for making (some) money on the side while I get my act together.
Any other things I could try to learn that would help me out a bit? Or resources on how to get started?
I'm considered quite smart by my peers (although granted, I don't believe it really because if I was so smart I would've found a way to fix my life already, right?) so I feel like I am squandering any potential I might have by being a lazy cunt.
Please give me some protips for starting again. I also have an appointment with my job adviser in a week, so maybe she can hook me up with a class or something.
