>>17307755>>17307756>>17307757>>17307758>>17307766>>17307775>oh this thread againI'm a guy who drives a truck (pic related, exactly the same) for an unorthodox reason so I think I can provide some valuable input. I can see both sides of the argument.
I live in a flyover state with a certified redneck dad who owns a successful construction company. He makes like $1M+ a year. I don't really ever use my truck bed but my dad was the one buying me my car (I am a college student) and it was always going to be a chevy silverado for me. I told him once that I wanted a jeep wrangler 2 door and he said that's gay. I like my truck though, it was my second choice albeit influenced by him. It might make a bit more sense considering that when I am not in college I am at home on our land and I don't live in a suburb, but still, I don't use the truck bed. I never have liked the lifted trucks or anything with aftermarket stuff on it, but hey that's just me. I can see why a lot of redneck guys do that though, it's just part of flyover culture. It doesn't make sense though considering that like >80% of the guys with lifted trucks are probably earning something like $50k/year so it doesn't really work out.
I get why urbanite liberal types hate on lifted trucks too, I get it. What I don't like is that many of them hate even the regular stock trucks like mine. I don't drive like a maniac, I never blast music, I always try to be respectful of everyone, but for example I had a friend I met in college from California who I started playing in a garage band with and he constantly talked shit about my truck. He assumed I was a straw hat wearing hillbilly just from the car I drive, which I believe is a nice vehicle, not rednecky at all. I had to break it to him like HEY MAN!!! We're in IOWA!!!! People here have trucks!!!
On the other hand, I totally don't like the lifted ghetto trucks with the stickers all over them either but I don't say anything.
