The reason is that Anthony Burgess was made a deal by the publishers, saying the book would fair better in the US without the final chapter. He disagreed, but the uncertainty of finding a publisher willing to accept such controversial book made him compromise.
>>10735393The book is superior because of the message and how fun to learn Nadsat is. But the movie has a lot of artistic merit, and I was surprised with how loyal it is to most of the book despite taking plenty of liberties, while retaining a lot from the book the same.
