>>19605812>Is there a sinister agenda or psychological reason why shoes are being made like this?>And when did it all start?Narrow toes are seen as more aesthetically pleasing. Raised heels increase height in men and change female posture to look more like how they look when they're in the fertile part of their cycle, which is tl;dr for it makes men and women look more attractive. Heels were originally invented for horseriding, to lock into the stirrups, so they also became associated with high-status nobility; "well-heeled."
Shoes in the modern fashion are mainly associated with the Industrial Revolution as before that many people's shoes had to be whatever floppy things they could put together, which usually didn't have heels or narrow toeboxes.
Feet are not adapted to narrow toebox/raised heel shoes and like a less severe version of foot-binding, modern shoes do hurt your feet and your posture and your gait and everything really.
The solution is find minimalist shoes with no heel-to-toe drop, wide toeboxes and thin soles. You don't need arch support, you need strong arches. Feet get strong like everything else; exercise. There's plenty of cheap options out there in the modern day, you'll just have to put up with the fact that they're all from California.
