Personally I think I'd have brought some tools for scientific exploration, like you know... maybe a proper drill... work my way down into the crust a bit, set up some proper infrastructure for further exploration, shit like that. Sounds like something sensible to do with the most important exploratory voyage in the history of humanity, to a place no man has ever gone before.
But no. Hop. Flag. Dune buggy. That's it. It's probably for the best that NASA lost all the tech for going to the moon. Going to the moon is actually for losers.
